Jamaican dancehall moves are bouncy, full of life and super fun. The beats are so infectious that you can’t just sit still when you hear it. Luckily, we’ve got Zen, our dancehall fitness instructor to help us get ready. If you haven’t tried dancehall, you’re in for a treat.
Dancehall Moves For You
Looking for an energetic dance style that will rejuvenate your fitness routine? Jamaican dancehall moves are the way to go. Since the music that goes with this dance style is heavy on the bass, a lot of the moves come from how the music moves the people. They felt the music and built a new body language with it.
What I love about Jamaican dancehall is that it started as a social dance and it changed as the music evolved. The moves started simply from song lyrics. The lyrics would tell you what to do and you follow, it was simple so that everyone at the party could follow along. However, due to growth in other dances, dancehall moves became more complex, longer and even faster. We’ve got a little bit of both with Zen and her dancehall fitness. She makes sure to take time and teach these traditional Jamaican dancehall moves, but at the same time, she’s not afraid to add her on flavor to it. You’ll learn soon enough what your dancehall flavor is too and I can’t wait for you to discover the wonderful style of Jamaican dancehall!

Now let’s add some popular music to this dance shall we? I love the heaviness of the bass because I feel the rhythm in my body. This choreography is super high energy, which also means it’s super fun. I love watching this because my mom is one of the dancers. Clearly, she’s made for dancehall!
Boasty by Wiley
I cannot get this song out of my head. I love the combination of Carribean beats with British hip hop and of course mix in Zen’s choreography and it’s LIT. Keep an eye out for a fancy footwork that Zen has cooked up for this choreo. Always remember that there’s no harm in replaying the video to get a choreography down, we all do it so hit that replay hard.
